We have contacted the Ministry of Health to conduct courses for Ministry of Health nurses and doctors since 2016, which provides support to all Ministry of Health employees who deal with neonatal services to improve the quality of care for this segment of society

COURSES

Plan Neonatal Rsuscitation Programme . Policies and Incentives

  • Supportive policies and guidelines should be put in place to move the program to scale-up.
  • Review of national guidance on neonatal resuscitation training center accreditation should be actively disseminated at all levels.

Geographical coverage

  • Monitoring the facilities that have been equipped and training staff in neonatal resuscitation helps ensure that this intervention is not limited to specific geographical areas.
  • Availability for quality services: Monitoring systems to ensure continuity of supply of equipment and trained personnel at delivery sites and retention of employee skills over time help ensure service availability and support continuous improvement efforts

Clinical services

  • The strategic plan must cover any gaps that affect the continued availability of services, ie the provision of resuscitation equipment for priority sites

Monitor and evaluate the process and results

  • The implementation plan will include periodic checks to determine if the activities are on track to achieve the objectives and to make corrections if they are not.
  • Components for inclusion in the M&E plan
  • Regulations, Service Guidelines, and Discipline.
  • Training of healthcare providers: In addition to monitoring process indicators, such as the numbers and proportion of trained providers, planners need to define and measure criteria for successful completion of training, and to supervise the training process.

Training: The training plan includes

  • Getting acquainted with the Saudi Training Center on the newborn resuscitation program, and approving them after completing the application forms.
  • Correct measurement of the skills of neonatal resuscitation providers among those already providing neonatal care may indicate the need for further training to enhance capacity.
  • Long-term goals and schedules for numbers, type and location of trainees, training package(s) needed, and staff training locations and staff
  • Standards for successful course completion, refresher training, assessment of skills retention, and supervision
  • The process of including the training plan in the national, regional and Gulf plans and budgets.
